can't be opened -- it doesn't mean anything is missing. Check the path.

<DIV>DSET ^foo.dat -- GrADS will look in the same directory where the
descriptor is located</DIV>
<DIV>DSET foo.dat -- GrADS will look only in the directory where it is
running</DIV>
<DIV>DSET /full_path_to/foo.dat -- The best way to be sure that GrADS will
open the file you want</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>If you are still getting the "Can't open binary data file" message, and
you are sure the path is your DSET entry is correct, it means GrADS doesn't
have read permission for the file in question, or it doesn't
exist. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Also, with GRIB files, make sure you have run gribmap to create the index
file before opening the descriptor file with GrADS. </DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have dowloaded the model.grb, model.gmp and
model.ctl files from the Grads tutorial.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Everything seems to be working
fine.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>After that I took some other grads ecmwf.ctl
and ecmwf.dat files which I am able to use on my Linux machine and tried
working with them.</FONT></DIV>
