files in grads binary format</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>Simon,
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>you should open the ctl file. GrADS files are made up of 2 files: a data
file (normally binary) and a descriptor file (the ctl file). You should open
the .ctl file. So on your linux terminal enter</DIV>
<DIV>'grads'</DIV>
<DIV><enter> # to choose between portrait and landscape</DIV>
<DIV>'open filename.ctl'</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Depending on the format of the file you may need a different command. For
example to open netCDF files you need to input</DIV>
<DIV>'sdfopen filename.ctl' or 'sdfopen <A
href="http://filename.nc">filename.nc</A>'</DIV>
<DIV>There is also 'xdfopen'</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
