Hello again GrADS Users,<br><br>I solved the background/basemap under a shaded contour. And here is how I did it:<br><br>Please note: A Google base map did not work, either due to a format issue or a dimension issue.<br><br>
1.) Create a basemap in GrADS. There are several ways to do this, I found two methods.<br> a.) Use the Library Script: <a href="http://basemap.gs">basemap.gs</a> tool to mask out land/oceans regions to create a basemap and use the printim command export as an image.<br>
<br> b.) The other method was an idea from Stephen (thanks Stephen) to use shapefiles to produce the map. <br><br>I have attached sample code (.gs files) for each option.<br><br><br>2.) When you create your product, use the following printim command to use the background basemap under your shaded contour:<br>
<br>'printim ptype_NE_'.png png -t 0 x570 y435 -b NE_ptype.png white'<br><br>Be sure to use the exact same size file, same lat/lon, scale, parea, etc.<br><br>I used the following lines for this example, both the basemap and the final product:<br>
<br>'set mpdset hires'<br>'set mproj scaled'<br>'set parea 0.5 10.5 1. 7.5'<br>'set lat 36.5 51.5'<br>'set lon '-90.0 -63'<br><br>I have also attached the blank basemap and an example of the final product.<br>
