Keep in mind that the binaries on the OpenGrADS sf.net download area are not the official COLA version: they start with the v1.9b4, add some COLA patches, then several other bug fixes contributed by the community, and finally the hooks for the OpenGrADS extensions. The builds are also made with a new set of external libraries (supplibs) which helps with running on recent platforms, in particular with OPeNDAP (DODS) issues. Please check my original post to this list regarding these binaries.
