When compiled with "--disable-netcdf" the HDF-4 library can be linked together with Unidata's NetCDF library in the same executable. (By default, HDF-4 provides replacements for the standard NetCDF functions, which in turn conflicts with the original NetCDF functions if linked in the same application.) Ironically, by specifying "--disable-netcdf" you in fact enable the GrADS executable to use the standard NetCDF library.<br>
