Paul,
I reported this many months ago on this forum, and got no response. My
workaround has been to not upgrade XQuartz past 2.8.4. I issue the
following commands:
mkdir /tmp/.X11-unix
sudo chmod 1777 /tmp/.X11-unix
sudo chown root /tmp/.X11-unix/
/Applications/Utilities/XQuartz.app/Contents/MacOS/X11.sh &
Once XQuartz starts running, I open an Xterm (not a regular terminal),
and run GrADS from there. After that, I can run GrADS from either
terminal or Xterm.
