from the picture I'd guess the dimensions of descriptor xdef/ydef file are not coherent with data file

hi Korri,

GrADS generates contours in strips in the x direction...  what does the 'set gxout contour' look like?  also, try a simpler 'set rbcols'  have you done 'set csmooth on'?

send the data and I'll take a look on my end (running opengrads-2.2.1.oga.1 on linux)

Subject: [gradsusr] Weird striations

Does anyone know what causes these weird striations?  It happens sometimes, but not all the time.  I can't seem to figure out what causes this.  This is wind speed and direction.  I've attached a graphic.  Has anyone else noticed this before?
