[gradsusr] Success with NBM data?

Hi Charles,

NBM GRIB data can be a bit finicky. A good starting point could be to try parsing out a variable that you're trying to plot in GrADS, using wgrib2 blend.grib2 -match ":TMP:2 m above ground:" -grib blend_parsed.grib2, then try making a new Control and Index File.

If that doesn't work, try re-writing the entire grid using:

wgrib2 blend.grib2 -match ":TMP:2 m above ground:" -ijsmall_grib 1:2345 1:1597 blend_regridded.grib2

Just a couple ideas...

Good luck,

Hi all,

Curious if anyone has had success with NOMADS NBM data and grads. (https://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/com/blend/prod/<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnomads.ncep.noaa.gov%2Fpub%2Fdata%2Fnccf%2Fcom%2Fblend%2Fprod%2F&data=05%7C01%7Caxp09171%40alumni.northernvermont.edu%7Cab4739cd0645418223cf08da29f276d5%7Cb17e9703dbdd49fa909c03dfd13086af%7C0%7C0%7C637868419073993449%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=GUDYxpw9xLwjxh8Lo%2FjhRMPq1Xpf8RjKF2lpZ8ae%2Bl0%3D&reserved=0>)

I've followed the basic procedure, download the grib2, make the control file, gribmap it and run grads. I see all the fields but when I plot everything is undefined upon a basic variable plot.

Before I dig too deep, I just wanted to see if anyone is having success with this.

Thanks for any help on this.
