I tried to use the ncdump output you sent to generate a dummy file with that time axis information and got the following error from ncgen: NetCDF: Bad chunk sizes. Your time axis length is size 25, but there is also this attribute: time:_ChunkSizes = 1024 ; So maybe that is the source of the problem? Also, I am not sure whether this is true in your case, but I have seen package install commands for other flavors of unix try to use udunits2 instead of udunits1 for GrADS. I updated the API in GrADS version 2.2.2 to use udunits2, but all other versions are likely to have issues if they are linked with udunits2. In the old builds, all the dependent libraries are statically linked, so it?s a little difficult to know what versions are included in the executables. The ?q config? output is helpful, but doesn?t list every single dependent library. It is a little easier to know what you?re working with using the newer versions that are dynamically linked. If the package install puts all the supplibs in place for you, then you might be able to build GrADS 2.2.2 from source without too much trouble. The easiest route might be to use a simple xdfopen-style descriptor file to provide the time axis information so GrADS doesn?t have to inspect the time metadata at all and you?ll bypass that parsing error entirely. http://cola.gmu.edu/grads/gadoc/SDFdescriptorfile.html --Jennifer -- Jennifer Miletta Adams ADNET Systems, Inc. Printim is an alias for gxprint. PNG is now the only supported image format, but you might consider one of the vector graphic options. You could also try using ImageMagick to convert to JPG or GIF. Perhaps another GrADS user can assist, since I have no experience with that. By the way, convert can also be used for a host of other options. From GrADS, if you have the application, you could enter !convert --help to see the various options. I currently just display the values from the script like: say 'CREATING WORLD FILE:' say lonpixelsize say '0.0' say '0.0' say latpixelsize say xwld say ywld say '---------------------' But testing interactively with:s grads -bl sdfopen ./a.nc Scanning self-describing file:? ./a.nc SDF file ./a.nc is open as file 1 LON set to -100 -50 LAT set to 0 55 LEV set to 0 0 Time values set: 2021:3:25:18 2021:3:25:18 E set to 1 1 ga-> say '0.0' Unknown command: say ga-> set gxout print ga-> set prnopts %10.6f 1 1 ga-> d 10.1 Printing Grid -- 1 Values -- Undef = -9.99e+08 ?10.100000 ga-> write(test.txt, result, append) Unknown command: write(test.txt, result, append) ga-> write('test.txt',result, append) Unknown command: write('test.txt',result, append) My idea here is to create the world file which in basically 6 floats written one per line in the file. I'm obviously not doing something wrong here. There is a major network issue at our College Park data center. This is causing the FTP connectivity drops. Unfortunately, this same issue has also taken down the listserv that we use to send out updates. Therefore we haven't been able to send regular emails like we usually do during times of crisis. Multiple teams are working to get service restored, but we don't have an ETA at this time. Data will remain available on NOMADS, as that service runs out of our other data center. Here's the original problem statement: Just to let you know, the ftp site where all this info is supposed to come from is at best unstable and at time unuseable. Sometimes it's fine and other times it times out and does not respond or at best responds very slow. This situation started over the weekend and continues today. ftp://ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/com/gfs/prod/gfs.20210330/06/wave/ -- Thanks Mark Sponsler -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
