[gradsusr] Compiling on Ubuntu 16.04

Hi Jennifer,

Oops, I blew away my build directory and need to rebuild it for Ubuntu 
16.04.
Before I try and resurrect my hacked build process, I want to check if 
any progress had been make to support Ubuntu in your repository?
