 I think grads 2.1 that using gxprint instead of  printim can generate better resolution image.

Hi, Bill.

If I'm not completely wrong, printim cannot change jpeg dpi.

I think we should ask for help to Jennifer Adams:

is it possible to get a 300 dpi figure directly from GrADS?

If yes, we would become very grateful if you could clarify us how to get a
300 dpi figure in GrADS.

Thank you very much for your time.

Yes I tried for single ctl file first which also gave following error.
Although the variable band1 is present in the netcdf file and is being
displayed when file is opened using sdfopen

Error: Variable band1 not in netcdf file
Data Request Error:  Error for variable 'band1'
  Error ocurred at column 1
DISPLAY error:  Invalid expression
  Expression = band1
