Yes, you will need a full descriptor file and a PDEF file to read any CEMS model output that is not on a regular lat/lon grid. If you do a google search with “site:gradsusr.org pdef cmip5” you will find many previous posts about how to do this.

Hi everybody
I'd like to know if there is a way to read the netcdf data from the outputs of CEMS model.
Have any of you worked with this model and read its outputs in grads? I tried it, but it seems to need a descriptor file.
PD: The data is able to read the data using ncview, but the graphic is not correct, it seems very elongated.
Thanks a lot for your replies!
