[gradsusr] set xaxis and set log1d

David,

Consider perturbating your xaxis dimensions (e.g. set xaxis 0 150 6 or set
xaxis 1 150 6). Common programming error is poor handling of beginning/ending
actions while iterating. Worth a try.

Additional update – still a no go in the newest version of GrADS, v2.1.0.

Thanks for your reply, Jeff. I gave it a shot – no dice.

set vrange 1 70
set xaxis 0 144 6
set log1d off
set log1d logv
That still gives me the bum axis. For a second test, I added another “set
log1d off” after the “set log1d logv,” and xaxis behaves as you would
expect in a normal plot – trying to see if the set log1d command was
tripping something, but it’s only at plot time do I get this effect.

Working on getting the full release installed on our local cluster.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a trick. I seem to recall having experienced
this issue myself, but I thought I got it working. Try 'set log1d off' first
before entering 'set log1d logv' just in case you need to reset. Also try
upgrading to v2.1.a3 or even the newest version.

I'm trying to plot a simple time series on a log scale. If I plot it with a
regular scale (vrange 1 70, set axis 0 144 6, d <var>), I get the top plot.
Everything looks fine. If I "set log1d logv" and then issue the same commands
as before, I get the second plot. The time series I'm using is model output
which ends at time step 577. The 144 actually falls where it should on a scale
from 1 to 577 -- notice that the 0 on the x-axis on the second plot is
slightly offset. Is there a trick I'm missing or is this a purposeful
constraint or is this a bug? I can't just use "set xlevs" because the way tdef
is set to accommodate file names.

This is in GrADS v2.1.a2.

~Dave
