Thanks for the reply,

I tried the above command, but my file is .grd instead.
so it gives the error-

cdo -f nc copy rf0.5_1979.grd  rf0.5_1979.grd.nc
cdo copy: Open failed on >rf0.5_1979.grd<
Unsupported file type

Please see if some options for .grd file is there.
