Use the ems_post routine to process WRF

Ie/ 
ems_post --domain 2 --grads

This would process the grib2 data from your run into a grib2, idx, and ctl
files required for Grads

Then if you had a script say 

'open 201506231200_nmm_wrfout_d02'
You don't need to reference the file extention in your commands
