[gradsusr] Great Lakes Wave upgrade

You used wgrib2 to create a netcdf file that sdfopen doesn’t like? The ‘no discernable X coordinate’ message means that that metadata for the longitude axis is not quite right. What does the output from ncdump -h look like?
