Yeah, that time axis information makes no sense at all. The unit “month as %Y%m.%f” doesn’t conform to any standard I know of. The coordinate values for the time dimension don’t make much sense either. You will need to use ‘xdfopen’ with a descritpor file that has a complete TDEF entry, but I’m not sure what the initial time should be:
TDEF time 330 linear ??? 1mo

Hi, Noele,
GrADS doesn’t suppor udunits2. You need to download ftp://cola.gmu.edu/grads/data2.tar.gz
and put the contents of that tar file in a directory that is either /usr/local/lib/grads/ or some other directory of your choosing. If you put it someplace of your choosing, then set the environment variable GADDIR to point to that location.
