There is some problem with the resolution. If you check the lat-lon of your
file, the resolution of both
lat and lon is not of 1 degree. Lat from -81.5 to 29.5 is of 1 degree then
it changes fractionally i.e.

for example:
-29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5,
    -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5,
    -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5,
    -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5,
    -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5,
    -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5, -29.5,
.................................................................................................
.................................................................................................
 -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091,
    -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091,
    -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091,
    -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091, -28.50091,
.................................................................................................
.................................................................................................
-27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821,
    -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821,
    -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821,
    -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, -27.50821, and
so on

Even Lon also is not of 1degree resolution. For example;
 -279.7281, -279.1842, -278.64, -278.0952, -277.5495, -277.0028, -276.4548,
    -275.9053, -275.354, -274.8007, -274.2451, -273.687, -273.1262,
    -272.5623, -271.9951, -271.4244, -270.8499, -270.2713, -269.6883,
    -269.1007, -268.5081, -267.9102, -267.3068, -266.6975, -266.082,
-265.46,
    -264.8311, -264.195, -263.5513, -262.8996, -262.2396, -261.5709,
    -260.8931, -260.2057, -259.5083, -258.8005, -258.0818, -257.3519,
    -256.61, -255.8559, -255.0889, -254.3086, -253.5143, -252.7056,
    -251.8819, -251.0425, -250.1869, -249.3144, -248.4245, -247.5164,
    -246.5895, -245.6432, -244.6767, -243.6894, -242.6806, -241.6495,
    -240.5955, -239.5179, -238.4159, -237.2889, -236.1363, -234.9573,
    -233.7514, -232.5179, -231.2563, -229.9661, -228.647, -227.2983,
-225.92,
    -224.5118, -223.0735, -221.6052, -220.107, -218.5791, -217.0219,
    -215.436, -213.822, -212.1808, -210.5136, -208.8214, -207.1056,
-205.368, and so on

So problem is not with your script but with the resolution. That is why I
was asking for
the range of lat-lon.

Because of mismatch of resolution the image of tos got distorted.
