[gradsusr] Opening grb2 file

Hello All,
Trying to open a simple GFS file so that I can get a background source to begin plotting data with. Made sure to place the .grb2 file in the correct directory after downloading the file off the NOMADS site. When I type in the 'open gfs_4_20140112_1200_009.grb2' command I get the can't open description file error. Any help would be much appreciated.
