[gradsusr] Get only one (max, mean) value from result set

Dear Grads users,

is it possible to obtain only one value (for example max) from the result
set?
I've tried many combinations, but I always get an error message.

For example - in case of following query:

http://hydro1.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/dods/_expr_{GLDAS_NOAH025SUBP_3H}{max(tsoil1,time=00z01Apr2010,time=00z31Oct2010)}{13.25:20.00,49.25:54.00,1:1,00z01Apr2010:00z31Oct2010}.ascii?result

I receive an array of maximum values for specified area and time period.
However, I need only one max value (for entire data set

Could you tell me how I should rewrite my query?
