[gradsusr] function usage question

Dear grads users,

Could anyone tell me what the [-z|-t] part of the statement below means?

* USAGE: windrose [-z|-t] <grads-expr for u-comp> <grads-expr for v-comp>
<threshold 1>
*        <color 1> .... <threshold 5> <color 5>

This is from the wind rose function written by Warren Tennant
