[gradsusr] GrADS--Failure of display box to open with map

I closed the GrADS application and restarted it, following the tutorial.
Previously when  I typed "d ps" I got a second box with an isobar map  in it.
However,  this time, I got  no display box but simply the line in the command box,
"Contouring:  500 to 1000 interval 50".
