[gradsusr] Creating Average

Dear GRADSUser

I am trying to create the climate for each grid point from the CMAP dataset. I user the following:

set t 1 12

clim = ave(precip,t+0,t=360,12)
modify clim seasonal

When I execute the above and view clim for the entire world it is OK.

The problem I have: 

If I try to set the lon say (-90 -60) grads is telling me that the grid id undefined. I will get 

a plot if I display the precip data though. This indicate that the average function is not creating
an average for each grid point.

Can someone please assist.
