Hi: We have NOGAPS solar radiation on the USGODAE site in GRIB edition 1 format.

You can find it at: http://usgodae.org/pub/outgoing/fnmoc/models/nogaps.

Under nogaps go into year, then dtg. Files that end with sol_rad are the solar radiation.

Additionally, there is an OPeNDAP/DODS interface to it at http://usgodae.org/dods/GDS/nogaps/NOGAPS_0001_000000-000000sol_rad.info.

Currently this data is one degree global, but will be switched to ½ degree global in March.

Thanks,
Mike

Brian,

Yes, there is both daily and monthly radiation data (shortwave up and down, long wave up and down) - follow this link:

http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/data/reanalysis/reanalysis.shtml

Else, for forecast data, use the radiation data found in the GFS model.

It's the NCEP reanalysis data.

Hello,

Are there any models which output the amount of daily solar radiation (whether NWP or reanalysis model)? Or, is there a way of determining this from existing variables?

Thanks in advance.

Brian
