the only poor man trick I know is to add an artificial little noise
e.g.:
set clab forced
d lon
it will display vertical lines with no labels, while
d d lon+cos(lat)/1000
it could work
...
bye bye

Subject: [gradsusr] Contour Label Position, Problem not solved
Thanks for your help Yan Libin.
Your hint does not lead to a change of the problem. The map gets bigger or smaller by setting parea, but the contour labels remain cut at the border of the map.
Maybe i have to mention, that the contours are station data, drawn with the oacres function.
Is there a way to draw the contours in a smaller area than the map border?

Subject: [gradsusr] Contour Label Position
Hi
my plot has no horizontal contour lines. The labels with the "set clab
forced" setting only appear half at the edge of the plot and are cut.
Is there a way to force grads to label contours at specific positions
(i.e. where they are vertical or close to a specific latitude or longitude)?
Thanks for any help
Adrian
