[gradsusr] What is the best way to lon lat option for gr2stn?

I was wanting to use gr2stn to interpolate to a specific lon lat for a
Meteogram ie/ a 2D time series
... my understanding is that I need to keep the z dimention fixed ... ie/ 

set lev 1000 

If the variable is for argument sake tmp2m (doesn't have a pressure level as
such)... is this possible (when I do this I get an error ... 2nd argument
not A station)
