[gradsusr] UDF in (GrADS) Version 2.0.a5

Dear Users,
                          I understand from the documentation that user
defined functions have been disabled from (GrADS) Version 2.0.a5 onwards.
Is there any alternative to use functions such as eof in latest version of
grads?. Is there a plan to bring back udf in coming versions of grads?
