I don't know of anything for doing exactly what you ask, but the if you use
the *box-average *method for going to a coarser grid you will get similar
results.  You can accomplish this with the re()
function<http://opengrads.org/doc/udxt/re/>that comes with
opengrads<http://opengrads.org/wiki/index.php?title=Installing_the_OpenGrADS_Bundle>
