Can you create a transparent background in GEMPAK like you can in Grads (-t option)?

You don't need LDM ...
via scripting of GEMPAK you can wget the data to the correct directory tree

Hi,

You can use the GEMPAK software, but you must have the LDM.

Hi users!

Hi Meredith,

Have you tried with IDV ?

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/

"Directly reads netCDF, Vis5D, McIDAS AREA and map (OUTL*) files, NEXRAD Level II and III radar data, ESRI Shapefiles, and Arc/Info ASCIIGRID files. Provides access to other data formats (e.g., GINI, NEXRAD Level III, HDF) through the Abstract Data Distribution Environment (ADDE) and OPeNDAP/DODS protocols".

Best regards

Hernán

I don't think GrADS can plot the Satellite data...
gini is a completely different format from GRIB

Does anyone know if I use GrADS to plot the satellite data available here: ftp://ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/images/satellite/ If not is there another FTP site real-time satellite data can be downloaded and easily plotted?

Thanks,
Meredith
