[gradsusr] How to get the Sum of variable (not spatially) for all region

if you are interested on precipitation, the precipitation over an area
is just a number, that could be:
1) the mean height
2) the volume (volume = meanHeight * sufrace)

meanHeight = aave(precipitation,lon=..., lon=...,lat=...,lat=...)

where precipitation is your annual precipitation
