Is there a pre-compiled release of new GrADS 2.0.0 for Ubuntu
(or will there
be one)? I have grads-2.0.a7.1 that was pre-compiled for Ubuntu,
and would
like to upgrade to new 2.0.0 but I see only CentOS options for
Linux.

See the
http://vista.cira.colostate.edu/nco/GrADS/grads-2.0.0-i686-linux-ubuntu3
2.tar.gz link which contains a statically compiled Ubuntu version of
GrADS 2.0.0.
This is linked against the NetCDF 4.1.2 library so there are no
performance issues.

Thanks,
It seems to work with a slight problem on my machine, so I'm not
sure how
stable this build is. When I start it complains:
Cannot open dialogs /usr/share/libsx/dialogs.en
Obviously my distro is missing this library. Then when I exit,
it dumps core
(I'm listing just in case):
No hardcopy metafile open

Is there a pre-compiled release of new GrADS 2.0.0 for Ubuntu
(or will there
be one)? I have grads-2.0.a7.1 that was pre-compiled for Ubuntu,
and would
like to upgrade to new 2.0.0 but I see only CentOS options for
Linux.

Dear GrADS users:
I would need some help in extracting a single dataset from an
HDF-EOS2 file
(for instance, ICECON from
AMSR_E_L3_SeaIce12km_B06_20080207.hdf) that could
be opened with GrADS.
I have already tried in several ways, but to no avail.
Thanks in advance.

Hi users!
I'm dowlloading grib2 files GFS outputs from
http://www.ftp.ncep.noaa.gov/data/nccf/com/gfs/prod/gfs.xxxxxxxxxx/gfs.t
xxz.pgrb2bfxx
(and idx file too)
I have instaled las version of GrADS (2.0.a9), last version of
wgrib2
(1.9.4) and last g2ctl script
I made:
g2ctl gfs.txxz.pgrb2bfxx > gfs.txxz.pgrb2bfxx.ctl
and ctl file are correctly crated, then I made:
gribmap -i gfs.txxz.pgrb2bfxx.ctl
to update the idx file, then I have 3 files (grib2 file, ctl
file and idx file)
I open grads, I load the file, and the file loads correctly,
but when I want to display any variable (set lev 500 > set
HGTprs for
example) grads says
"Cannot contour grid - all undefines values"
What can be the problem ?
Thanks!

Hi,
It seems that the 0.5 degree GFS forecast files were divided
into two
parts: pgb2fXX and pgb2bfXX.
You can get the common tropospheric levels in the pgb2fXX files.
Check
the file inventory for more
details.

Hernan,
Do you have access to NCL? If so, there is an "ncl_convert2nc"
command-line utility which lists "HDF-EOS 2" as one of the input
dataset
formats it recognizes:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Document/Tools/ncl_convert2nc.shtml
I haven't used it. Example 6 on the above web site features an
HDF file
for input.
Hope this helps,
Chuck
