[gradsusr] new shade2 clarification

I have been trying to use the new shade2 for shaded contours.

So if I had a script

'set gxout shade2b'
'set clevs 50 100 150 250 300'
'set ccols 211 210 -1 209 208'
'd somevariable'

The effect would be to not display 150 level ... rather than to make a
transparent colour contour 
Over the top of another displayed variable. Ie/ invisible rather than
transparent.

If this is the case is it possible to do transparent colours that allow
layers below to remain
visible
