[gradsusr] calculating Area average for particular state msking out other states

Dear all,

                I want to calculate seasonal rainfall for each state or sub
divisions  from WRF model output. and i have to compare IMD climatology. For
this I have to do area average for state excluding the adjacent states. is
there any way to calculate like this, please help me
