Hi Emrullah,
Thanks for the insight. But I am still stuck. I did as you had suggested.
'open /expr/store_file/04may2011/wrf-outp_d01.ctl'
*******
'define x1=rainc(t=4)+rainnc(t=4)'
'define x2=rainc(t=28)+rainnc(t=28)'
'define x3=rainc(t=52)+rainnc(t=52)'
'set gxout print'
'set prnopts %1.2f 5 1'
*********************************
*   1. TUMKUR, KORA
'set lat 13.44'
'set lon 77.06'
'd x2-x1'
line=sublin(result,2)
*dummy=subwrd(line,4)
************
'd x3-x2'
line2 =sublin(result,2)
*dummy2 =subwrd(line2,4)
*nn = 'KORA  : 'dummy' dummy2'
nn = 'KORA  : 'line' line2'
rc=write('/model/uas/test.dat',nn,append)
'quit'

 My test.dat file Looks like this.

KORA  : 0.11  line2
KORA  : 0.11  line2
KORA  : 0.11  line2

~
~
"test.dat" 4 lines, 76 characters

It is treating line2 as as a string variable.

Kindly suggest.
geeta
