Gamal,
Remove the lines that say "pull dummy" and the script will make all of the
images without any action needed from you.

Jeff Duda

Hi Dr. Gamal, You can run scripts in grads like a program, can be programmed
with C language basic type, the end of the script save it with extension
"gs" on the same folder of the WRF output ( like this: "file.gs") later
opening grads call it with the command "run file.gs". I attached
a script created for me to automatically generate maps of rainfall and
stores the result in a specific folder, you can edit as you like for your
needs:

#Script PARA PRECIPITACION TOTAL
'c'
'set t 1'
t = 1
name = 03
while (t <= 41)
'set gxout shaded'
'set t 't''
'd rainc'
'cbar'
'set gxout contour'
'd rainc'
'q time'
x1=sublin(result,1)
t1=subwrd(x1,3)
t2=subwrd(x1,5)
'draw title PRECIPITACION TOTAL ACUMULADA PARA 't1' '
'wi /home/jjfigueroa/WRF/SALIDAS/00Z/ppt't'.png'
'c'
t= t+1
endwhile

Hi Felix,

At each lon & lat, you want to extract rainfall at every time step i.e. 3
hours? Is that what you want to do? If yes, then
1. how many time steps are you dealing with?
2. what is the format of your file i.e. ctl or netcdf? If ctl, then I need
two samples of the filename.
3. are you using GrADS in windows or linux?

Off the top of my head, what you need is a double loop. If you could give
me the details above, then I could modify a similar script that I have.

Hi Muhammad,

I'm using TRMM 3B42 Rainfall data sample on this
link<http://disc2.nascom.nasa.gov/daac-bin/OTF/HTTP_services.cgi?FILENAME=%2Fdata%2Fs4pa%2FTRMM_L3%2FTRMM_3B42%2F2005%2F001%2F3B42.050101.21.6.HDF.Z&LABEL=3B42.050101.21.6.nc&SHORTNAME=TRMM_3B42&SERVICE=NetCDF&VERSION=1.02>..

The data is Netcdf with each 3hrs as a different file..I.e 3*8*365
files(=timesteps)in a year...

I was thinking of doing a shell script to open and run the grads script for
all the time steps producing the text output for
some modelling application.. I'm running Opengrads in Windows and also I
have access to a Unix server-based one..

Thanks and Regards
