[gradsusr] GrADS can not read MODIS hdf format

Dear GrADs users,

Is there any way to open MODIS satellite product in .hdf format using GrADs. I know that GrADs need a control/descriptor (.ctl) file if it is unable to open it directly using sdfopen utility. If some one already worked with MODIS data then his/her reply will be useful.
