[gradsusr] NC_STRING type support?

Hi all,
The recent thread, "SDF file does not have any non-coordinate variables" reminded me of a somewhat related question. Does grads support the NC_STRING type?  For instance, if I create an attribute of type NC_STRING, will grads be able to read it?
