Do not use the 'sdfopen' command to open a bufr descriptor file. Use  
the 'open' command instead.

An unrelated problem .... GrADS should not be linked with the udunits2  
library.  You should be using version 1.11.7.

No, a utility like that would be very useful, but nobody has written  
it yet.
