[gradsusr] problem in opening netcdf and hdf file

Hello,
      I am just a beginner in GrADS.The version I am using is 1.9-rc1.I
tried the general commands like open,sdfopen but it isnt opening.Tried doing
it in gradhdf but the error comes could not ingest metadata.
      Please Help
