[gradsusr] Provincial Border Lines

Good morning Mr Jamali

I am happy to inform you that GrADS can indeed do provincial borders.

I have a C Program that was developed by Barry Goodison of Environment
Canada that will generate any borders, if you have available the data
defining borders in Shape file Archive format (ERSI ArcGIS standard
format) which is produced by ArcGIS (any version).

The method is to input the Arc Archive file format tot he C program and
the program produces a "dat" binary file of the border points (Say you
name this file "province.dat"). Once this generated file is put in the
same directory as the "hires" file that comes with GrADS, then upon
start up of GrADS one uses the command 'set mpdset hires
provinces.dat'. This will display the provincial borders and national
borders when your country is within the GrADS display window .

If you want the borders for Canadian provinces I can sent you the "dat"
file that will do the job. If it is for other countries then I will
sent the C Program and you can generate the border file for your area.

Good luck with this.

Sincerely

Mac MacLeod
