stnmap is not a GrADS command, it is an external utility, to be run  
before you start up GrADS. Alternatively, you can run stnmap from  
within GrADS by placing a ! in front of the command, which will send  
the command to the shell:

ga-> !stnmap -i stn.ctl
ga-> open stn.ctl
