[gradsusr] grib2map for Ubuntu 10.04

The index file is not created when I do: 
gribmap -i pgbh01.gdas.197904.ctl 

The error below is generated instead!
Open Error:  Data file type invalid
  --> The invalid description file record is: 
  --> dtype grib2
  The data file was not opened.
