Jeff,

The previous reply gave you some good information, but the attached 
script gives you more to work with.  You may find you need to fuss with 
this script to get it to work properly.  The script puts you into a 
loop, allowing you to move forward and back in time.  The "lon = lon + 
0.2" line controls the density of data in your cross section.  I never 
tried to code it in a general way to give, say, 100 points along any 
cross section, so you may need to adjust this to make it work for your 
particular cross section. The best part is that once you set up the end 
points with lat and lon, you can add variables, either with contours or 
shading, to change the plots.
