This is version 2.0a7.6 built statically for Linix 32bit servers.

Sorry, but my build of GrADS doesn't have any problems with udunits parsing of the units in that syntax. I don't know why it's not working in your environment. Perhaps John Huddleston (who provided the ubuntu build) can help.
