bar graph

Hi all:

need some help with bar graph plots, I want to display CRU temperature
bargraphs averaged over a region.

when I do, for example

'sdfopen CRUTMP.nc'
'set gxout bar'
'set t 1 12'
'define barT=aave(tmp,lon=34,lon=36,lat=-2,lat=1)'
'd barT'

the result gives me 12 values instead of bar graph display.
Any help please!!
