NetCD Ascat data

Hi all. I am trying to work with the Ascat data dowloaded from http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/DATA_CATALOG/ascatinfo.html. After  downloading and opening the .nc file, I get the following error:

ga-> sdfopen ascat_20100114_182700_metopa_16808_eps_o_125_1019_ovw.nc
Scanning self-describing file:  ascat_20100114_182700_metopa_16808_eps_o_125_101
9_ovw.nc
gadsdf: SDF file has no discernable X coordinate.

Any ideas?
