[gradsusr] how to use get_grib.pl without an inventory file?

I may not have phrased this quite right. Hopefully I am missing
something obvious...

 

I want to use get_grib.pl to do the fast downloading of HRRR grib2 files
from GSD. But there is no .idx  file. 

 

For the RUC from ncep, I use get_inv.pl on the .idx file, grep for my
fields then pipe it into get_grib.pl - it's a beautiful thing.

 

I can download the entire file of course and use wgrib to create the
inventory file, but then that's the entire file.
