Grads for Ubuntu Problem

I tried doing this according to the instructions but to no avail.
The problem is is when I do setenv in the unbuntu terminal I get the
following message:

snyderjm at snyderjm-laptop:~/Desktop/grads-2.0.a7.1/bin$ setenv GADDIR
/home/snyderjm/Desktop/grads-2.0.a7.1/bin
No command 'setenv' found, did you mean:
Command 'netenv' from package 'netenv' (universe)
setenv: command not found

Therefore, I tried the following:

snyderjm at snyderjm-laptop:~/Desktop/grads-2.0.a7.1/bin$ csh
% setenv GADDIR /home/snyderjm/Desktop/grads-2.0/a7.1/bin
% exit

This is my Grads directory now as it stands with data.tar.gz installed,
unzipped and tarred:

snyderjm at snyderjm-laptop:~/Desktop/grads-2.0.a7.1/bin$ ls
bufrscan font1.dat font5.dat gribmap gxtran mres wgrib
COPYRIGHT font2.dat grads gribscan hires stnmap
data.tar font3.dat gradsdap gxeps INSTALL udunits.dat
font0.dat font4.dat grib2scan gxps lowres uwnd.1998.nc

I am continuing to have the same problems with Grads. How do I resolve
this and my setenv problems?

Thanks,

Jason
