There is a zoom script (originally by Steve Bloom) shipped with the latest
opengrads bundle. If you start the "nomads" or "merra" GUI frontends, once
you open a dataset and display a variable, look under the "Dim" menu for
"Zoom in". You can find more info about the "merra" GUI here:

The actual gs script for zooming is under Contents/Resources/Scripts in
the bundle distribution.
