Jennifer and Wesley,

I'm glad to see you making this effort. It's a lot of work, but a lot
of good can come form it! Putting the materials on-line is a
no-brainer, as many people who would like to be there, just can't make
it for various reasons.

For example, when we did this last year for MERRA (Arlindo was a huge
contributor), we showed some neat examples of GDS serverside scripting
and also regridding (making MERRA 1/2 degree data match NCEP Gaussian
grid for differences or support existing routines). We found many of
the participants were not aware or the serverside capability.

We also turned some of the MERRA workshop materials into Recipes on
the GrADS cookbook. The workshop presentations are available:
http://gmao.gsfc.nasa.gov/research/merra/presentations/

But also, the local data and all scripts we used are available on
anonymous ftp:
ftp://gmaoftp.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/papers/mikeb/MERRA_Workshop/

At the time, we only had a few years of data, but now 1979 through
2007 are all online.

Best wishes for a successful workshop (and have fun with it too)!!!

Mike
